Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Fellowship Program Looking for Applicants

The Career Development Center (CDC) is sponsoring the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Junior Fellowship Program application process from Dec. 1, 2011 through Jan. 6, 2012. This fellowship program offers students a chance to work with international affairs in Washington, D.C.
The Carnegie Endowment Juniors Fellowship Program is offering graduating seniors or recent graduates with an opportunity to spend a year in Washington D.C. working with the Carnegie Endowment.  Students will work on projects, write articles, contribute to congressional testimonies and organize briefings. "It's really for all students that want to help fix the problems of the world," Dr. Robin Lee said, the fellowship coordinator at the Career Development Center.
Students that qualify are those that have a high G.P.A of 3.7 and above and have a passion for the studies of international affairs.  The applicant should include the official application which can be found as a hard copy at the CDC in Brotman Hall (BH-250). Students can also apply online at http://www.careers.csulb.edu/job_search/internships/cej_fellowship.htm. Additionally, students must include a resume, transcript, two letters of recommendation, and a response to the applications essay prompt. This will all be turned into the CDC so that a fellowship committee can review all applications and make a nomination decision. Once, the school chooses a student that students application goes to the Carnegie Endowment. Officials at the Carnegie Endowment then go through a review process and choose about 30 applicants to interview in February. After the interviews officials choose about 10 students for the fellowship program which starts on Aug. 8, 2011.
The junior fellows will have plane fare covered and will have earn $36,000 for the year. Housing and transportation costs will be the student’s responsibility.
