Internship Week 2011

The Career Development Center at California State University, Long Beach will be hosting Internship Week 2011 from Oct. 26-27. Information and workshop sessions will be held at the Career Development Center in Brotman Hall (BH- 250) and at various locations around campus.
The first two days of Internship Week 2011 include two workshops held at the Career Development Center. The first workshop will be held on Oct. 24 from 3-4 p.m. and will focus on the "Search & Secure Internship: For All Majors.” This workshop will focus on providing students with advice and resources on finding and applying for internships. The second workshop is titled, "Networking Beyond Business Cards" and will be on Oct. 25 from 1-2 p.m. Students will learn how to network through means of social media.
            Employers from Nordstroms, AmeriCorp, JusticeCorp, Students in Service, Coca-Cola Refreshments USA, Inc., and The Washington Center will be meeting with students throughout the week.
            Nordstroms will be hosting an information session on Oct. 24 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at the Career Development Center. Employers from Nordstroms will explain the internship application process and answer any questions students may have.
            On Oct. 25 from 3-4 p.m. students can meet representatives from AmeriCorp, JusticeCorp, and Students in Service at the Career Development Center. Students will learn about volunteer and scholarship opportunities offered by these organizations.
            Coca-Cola Refreshments USA, Inc. will have employers at their information session on Oct. 26 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Students will be informed about the company, application process, and internship duties.
            The Washington Center will be holding an information session on Oct. 26 starting at noon and ending at 2 p.m. that focuses on the types of internships available.
            The first internship fair is for the College of Natural Science and Mathematics on Oct. 26 from noon to 2 p.m. in between the Hall of Science and Molecular and Life Science Center. The second internship fair will be for the College of the Arts and will be held on October 27 from  noon to 2 p.m. at the courtyard near the Fine Arts building. The internship coordinator of the Career Development Center, Erin Booth explained that Internship Week 2011 is beneficial for all students. "It's an opportunity to meet with employers and to interact with employers," Booth said.
